Elara Health & Wellness6 min read

PlushCare GLP-1 care is priced as a telehealth membership: $19.99 a month (first month free) plus a visit fee, which is $129 for an initial visit without insurance or typically $30 or less with in-network coverage. Over 12 months, PlushCare’s published fees add up to roughly $250 to $350, but medication, labs and follow-up visits are not included, so your real yearly cost depends mostly on what your pharmacy and insurer charge. All figures were checked on PlushCare’s own website on October 30, 2026.

What PlushCare publicly lists

PlushCare is a general online primary-care service, not a dedicated GLP-1 program. Its doctors can evaluate you and, if appropriate, send a prescription to a pharmacy you choose. Here is everything its site lists as a price.

Item Listed price Notes Source
Membership $19.99 per month First month free; “cancel anytime” PlushCare telehealth appointments
Initial visit, no insurance $129 Follow-up visit price not published PlushCare weight loss page
Visit, in-network insurance Copay; “$30 or less” for most patients Depends on your plan PlushCare weight loss page
GLP-1 medication Not published on PlushCare’s site as of Oct 30, 2026 Filled by your pharmacy of choice; PlushCare says weight loss medications usually cost about $1,000 per month out of pocket PlushCare weight loss page
Lab work Not published on PlushCare’s site as of Oct 30, 2026 Membership lists “exclusive discounts on lab tests”; labs are not included PlushCare telehealth appointments
Annual membership Not published on PlushCare’s site as of Oct 30, 2026 PlushCare’s terms say membership is available monthly or annually PlushCare Terms of Use

On its weight loss page, PlushCare names brand-name medications its clinicians may prescribe, including Wegovy, Zepbound and Saxenda for weight loss, and Ozempic and Mounjaro for type 2 diabetes. The page does not mention compounded medication.

The 12-month math

Because PlushCare does not sell or price the medication itself, a true like-for-like comparison is not possible from its site alone. The table below shows what PlushCare’s own published fees add up to over a year, and keeps medication as a separate line so you can plug in your own pharmacy or insurance cost.

Scenario Line items 12-month total
PlushCare, with in-network insurance (fees only) Membership: 11 paid months x $19.99 = $219.89 (first month free) + initial visit copay of about $30 About $249.89, plus follow-up copays, medication copays and labs
PlushCare, without insurance (fees only) Membership: 11 x $19.99 = $219.89 + initial visit $129 $348.89, plus follow-up visits (price not published), medication and labs
PlushCare, without insurance, using PlushCare’s own medication estimate $348.89 in fees + about $1,000 per month x 12 for medication (PlushCare’s stated typical out-of-pocket cost) About $12,348.89, plus follow-up visits and labs
Elara, injectable semaglutide (compounded) 52-week plan: 13 cycles x $179 = $2,327; 4-week plan: 13 x $249 = $3,237 $2,327 to $3,237, all-in
Elara, oral semaglutide (compounded) 52-week plan: 13 x $209 = $2,717; 4-week plan: 13 x $279 = $3,627 $2,717 to $3,627, all-in
Elara, tirzepatide (compounded) 52-week plan: 13 x $269 = $3,497; 4-week plan: 13 x $339 = $4,407 $3,497 to $4,407, all-in

Elara bills every 4 weeks, which is 13 billing cycles in a year, and its price stays the same at every dose step. Its totals include clinician care, quarterly labs, coaching, shipping and medication if prescribed. PlushCare’s totals cover only its own fees. If your insurance covers a brand-name GLP-1, your PlushCare cost could be far lower than the cash estimate above; if it does not, medication will likely be the largest part of your bill.

Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness, or quality.

How to cancel PlushCare

PlushCare’s Terms of Use say you can cancel your membership at any time by emailing info@plushcare.com. A canceled paid membership stays active until the end of the current term and does not renew. The terms state that fees are generally non-refundable, with refunds or pro rata refunds provided as required by law or as stated in your account. The weight loss page adds that if PlushCare cannot treat you, it will refund the visit; medication and lab costs are not covered by that refund.

Who PlushCare may be a good fit for

  • People whose insurance covers a brand-name GLP-1 and who want a doctor to help with the prescription and prior authorization.
  • Anyone who specifically wants an FDA-approved, brand-name medication rather than a compounded one.
  • Households that want broader online primary care, since the membership covers more than weight care and includes family members.
  • People who prefer to use their own local pharmacy.
  • Patients who want same-day video appointments seven days a week.

How Elara is different

Elara is built only for GLP-1 weight care, so the price you see is the full price: clinician care, quarterly labs, health coaching, shipping and medication if prescribed, at one rate that does not change as your dose goes up. Clinical care is provided by board-certified physicians through OpenLoop Healthcare Partners, PC. If predictable all-in pricing matters more to you than insurance billing, see how Elara works or compare plans and pricing.
