Is Elara Legit? What “Verified Telehealth” Actually Means.

It is a reasonable question. The telehealth weight-loss category has a lot of marketing and not a lot of transparency. We think transparency is the answer, so this page documents who we are, where our medication comes from, who provides your clinical care, what we charge, and how to verify each of those claims for yourself.

If something is missing or unclear after reading this page, write to us at support@elarahealthandwellness.com and we will answer specifically.

The honest answer to the most important question

Elara provides telehealth access to compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved as finished drug products, and we will not pretend otherwise. Compounded preparations are made by state-licensed 503A pharmacies under state pharmacy board oversight, pursuant to a patient-specific prescription issued by a board-certified physician after clinical evaluation. The active ingredients — semaglutide and tirzepatide — are themselves FDA-approved through the brand-name versions Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, and Zepbound®. The 503A compounding pathway is legal, federally recognized, and governed by Section 503A of the federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. We will explain the regulatory framework, name our partner pharmacies, and link you to each state’s pharmacy board so you can verify their license yourself.

If a clinician decides during your free assessment that a GLP-1 program is not clinically appropriate for you, you are not charged and no medication is sent.

Who operates Elara

Elara Health and Wellness is operated by JTE Medical, LLC, a Florida limited liability company founded in 2023. You can verify our registration directly with the Florida Division of Corporations. Our legal venue and corporate mailing address is 317 6th Avenue, Suite 400, Des Moines, Iowa 50309.

Clinical care is delivered by Openloop Healthcare Partners, PC — our affiliated medical group, registered with the Iowa Secretary of State. Openloop employs and contracts with independently licensed clinicians who hold prescribing authority in the states where you are located. Our partnership with Openloop is disclosed in our Terms of Use. Elara is not a medical practice and does not provide medical services directly. The clinicians who diagnose, prescribe, and oversee your care work for Openloop, not Elara.

How clinical care works

  1. You complete a free five-minute assessment online.
  2. A board-certified physician licensed in your state reviews your medical history, current medications, and clinical profile.
  3. The physician makes an independent clinical judgment: prescribe, decline, or request additional information.
  4. If prescribed, you can adjust dose, ask questions, or pause your program by messaging your care team through the secure portal.
  5. Side-effect management, dose adjustments, and ongoing clinical questions are included in your subscription. There is no separate charge to message your physician or coach.

Physicians decline cases that are not clinically appropriate. Common reasons include certain medication interactions, contraindicating conditions, or situations where an in-person visit is more appropriate. If a physician declines you, you are notified with a reason and you are not charged. This is normal and expected — it is how independent clinical judgment is supposed to work.

Where your medication comes from

Compounded medications dispensed through Elara are prepared by one of four state-licensed 503A compounding pharmacies. Each is independently licensed by its home state’s board of pharmacy. You can look up each pharmacy’s license status directly with the state board.

Who Elara is not for

GLP-1 medications are not safe for everyone. We will not enroll you, and a physician will decline your assessment, if any of the following apply:

  • Personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)
  • Personal or family history of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN2)
  • Personal or family history of severe pancreatitis
  • Pregnancy or trying to become pregnant
  • Active eating disorder
  • Under 18 years old

Other clinical factors — current medications, kidney or liver function, blood-sugar history — may also lead a physician to decline your application or recommend an alternative path. The free assessment is designed to surface these concerns before any charge is processed.

What happens if something goes wrong

If you experience side effects, message your care team through the secure portal. Most questions are answered within one business day. Your physician can adjust your dose, pause your program, or refer you to in-person care if appropriate. Side effect management is part of what is included in your subscription — there is no separate charge to seek clinical guidance.

If you have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department. Telehealth is not appropriate for emergency care.

If you want to report an adverse event to a regulatory authority, you can do so directly through the FDA’s MedWatch system at fda.gov/safety/medwatch. Reporting to FDA does not require going through Elara or our partner pharmacies, and we encourage patients to report adverse events independently if they wish.

If your shipment is delayed or damaged, contact patient support at support@elarahealthandwellness.com. Our partner pharmacies ship via tracked carriers, and replacement shipments for verified shipping issues are sent at no charge.

If you change your mind, you can cancel anytime. See the Money & Cancellation section below.

We treat your health information as health information.

What we do not do:

Frequently asked questions

Is Elara a scam?

No. Elara Health and Wellness is operated by JTE Medical, LLC (a Florida LLC founded in 2023), with clinical services delivered by Openloop Healthcare Partners, PC, and medications dispensed by four state-licensed 503A pharmacies listed on this page. Each of those parties can be independently verified through state and federal records.

Is the medication FDA-approved?

The active ingredients — semaglutide and tirzepatide — are FDA-approved through the brand-name drugs Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, and Zepbound®. The compounded formulations dispensed through Elara are made by 503A compounding pharmacies. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved as finished drug products, but compounding is a legal practice federally recognized under Section 503A of the FDCA and overseen by state pharmacy boards.

Are the physicians real and licensed?

Yes. All clinicians who prescribe through Elara are independently licensed physicians or qualified clinicians employed or contracted by Openloop Healthcare Partners, PC. Each physician is licensed in the state where the patient is located, as required by telehealth regulation.

Where does my prescription get filled?

By one of four state-licensed 503A compounding pharmacies: RedRock Pharmacy (Utah), Health Warehouse (Kentucky), Precision Compounding Pharmacy (New York), or Triad Rx (Alabama). All four are listed and linked on this page.

What happens if a physician declines my application?

You are notified with a reason. You are not charged. No medication is sent. This is normal and is how independent clinical judgment is intended to work.

Can I really cancel anytime?

Yes. Monthly plans cancel with no fee. Longer-term plans cancel with no exit penalty — your rate reconciles to the applicable shorter-term rate for the months you received care.

Does Elara sell my data?

No. We do not sell patient data, and we do not share patient information with employers, insurers, or third-party marketers. Detail is in our Notice of Privacy Practices.

Why is Elara less expensive than Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, or Zepbound through a pharmacy with insurance?

Compounded medications are priced differently than FDA-approved brand-name drugs. We do not bill insurance, which removes administrative overhead from the price. We also include physician visits, quarterly metabolic labs, and health coaching in the subscription — many cash-pay GLP-1 services charge for those separately.

Where does Elara ship?

Elara is available in all 50 states and DC, subject to change based on state regulations. Telehealth licensing requirements vary by state, and a physician will only prescribe if you are physically located in a state where they are licensed.

How is patient data secured?

Patient information is exchanged through HIPAA-aligned platforms with secure transmission and storage. The Medical Groups and Providers operate under their own Notice of Privacy Practices for protected health information. Full detail is in our Notice of Privacy Practices.
